The Ashti lift-irrigation scheme provides water to drought-prone areas of Beed district under Godavari Marathwada Irrigation Development Corporation. Out of 7.0 TMC available from the Krishna Marathwada Irrigation Project, 1.68 TMC is allocated to Ashti LIS, creating irrigation potential of 8,147 hectares. Phase 1 from Ujani Reservoir (Shimpura) to Khuntephal Reservoir is complete; multi-stage pumping, underground pipeline and tunneling works are in full swing.
